For over five decades, our all-volunteer team has stood ready to protect Rawson and the surrounding communities — from structure fires to medical emergencies, always just a call away.
The Rawson Volunteer Firefighters Association was founded in 1968 by neighbors who believed that looking out for one another wasn't just a value — it was a responsibility. What began as a small group of volunteers answering the occasional structure fire has grown into a well-trained, fully equipped department serving Rawson, Ohio 45881 and the surrounding townships.
Every member of our department answers the call in their own time — doctors, teachers, farmers, tradespeople — all drawn together by a shared commitment to this community. We train continuously, maintain our apparatus diligently, and respond to every call with the same urgency as a paid department, because to the families we protect, the difference is irrelevant.
Based at 5000 CR-37 in Rawson, we cover a broad rural service area where response times matter and every minute counts. Our station remains staffed around the clock by volunteers who live and work in the communities we serve.
Full structural fire suppression for residential, commercial, and agricultural buildings across our service area, with rapid dispatch and coordinated mutual aid.
Our certified EMTs provide life-saving first response before ambulances arrive — cardiac care, trauma stabilization, and critical patient assessment on scene.
Motor vehicle accident response, extrication, hazardous material awareness, and technical rescue support across rural Highland County roads.
Proactive fire safety inspections for homes and businesses, code enforcement consultation, and prevention education to reduce risk before emergencies occur.
Free smoke detector installations, fire safety workshops at schools and community events, CPR certification classes, and disaster preparedness training.
Have questions about fire safety, need a community presentation, or want to schedule a home inspection? Reach out — we're happy to help even when it's not an emergency.
We're always looking for people who want to make a tangible difference in their community. Whether you're drawn to full firefighting duties, support roles, or simply want to help sustain our operations, there's a way to contribute.
Whether it's an emergency, a question about fire safety, or interest in volunteering, we'd love to hear from you.
